SUSTAINABLE FASHION SOLUTIONS, WHERE TO BEGIN?

SWAP
Instead of buying new can you swap clothes with a friend? You can host large swap events and each person brings along a selection of clothes they no longer wear.
SECOND HAND
Buying second-hand items is always better than buying new as the item has already been manufactured. If everyone bought second-hand it would mean less demand for new items which puts less pressure on the environment.
SLOW FASHION
Focus on slow fashion rather than fast fashion. Fast fashion is incredibly damaging for the environment. Not only are a high percentage of fast fashion companies not paying fair wages for their workers, they also use an open-loop production cycle that pollutes our waters and land. Fast fashion produces over 92 million tonnes of waste per year.
FAIR
No one should ever be mistreated in the name of fashion. Your decisions, whether positive or negative, have a direct effect on those working across the fashion supply chains.
VEGAN
Vegan fashion is cruelty-free, it is a way of producing and purchasing items that excludes the exploitation of animals.
LOCAL
Support local! This reduces a huge amaount of CO2 measured by the distance between your location and where your items are transported from. Note: A label/ tag that says: "MADE IN SA" does not mean the entire item is MADE IN SA, ask the brand/s you buy from questions or make suggestions. Download a FREE Guide below:)
MINIMALISM
SIMPLIFY your wardrobe, be honest with yourself and start giving away items you no longer wear or want.
ORGANIC COTTON
Organic fabrics are better for the health of farmers, wildlife and saves us from pesticides. Hemp, Linen and organic cotton generally being among the most environmentally friendly materials. Always look for certificates.
RECYCLED MATERIALS
Water bottles - collected, chipped, melted, and spun into yarn - can have a second life as T-shirts, Jackets, Yoga pants and much more. Note: sets microfibers can't be filtered out of water free. It does require energy and chemicals to create so make sure the quality is worth it.
100% MATERIALS
Go for 100% materials such as cotton, wool etc. These materials can be recycled, unlike when they are blended with something else. This is due to the energy required to separate the different fibers from each other.

Shop consciously from our SIMPLE- recycled fashion t-shirts, MADE IN AFRICA cotton dresses and THRIFT Fashion blazers
